All I can say is 'wow'!!! about this class. I actually stopped what I was doing for two hours and went to class. ( kisses to my husband and son for letting me go to class!!) Any way, the topic was around stopping the pain and the messages we give ourselves. I was moved by several of the stories presented. However, it was a few things that Iyanla said that truly resonated with me.
First, PAIN: Pay Attention Inward Now. What does that mean? To me it means for the pain to stop, I have to admit that I am in pain. I have to admit that on a small scale it still bothers me that 'my biological didn't bother'. Not enough to block me from moving, but enough to remind me to move the rock. Iyanla said, "Until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. You have to 'feel it, deal with it and then heal from it." Powerful!!!
She instructed us to find a new story. Some of us are addicted to our sad story. We tell it over and over and over again. We identify our pain through our story. We have to start telling a new story so we can start the healing process. This was quite the profound statement for me.
Second, I am not being selfish when I put me first, I am being self-ful. Iyanla said, "We should give from the 'overflow' of the cup. What is in the cup is for me. I give from the overflow." Another wow moment for me!!! It makes so much sense that I would feel empty if I am giving from what is supposed to be my supply.
And lastly, Iyanla said, " Right where I am, the fullness of God is." God is with me on this journey. Because of who He is, then I should rest in knowing that I will be just fine.
In the live season premiere, Iyanla Vanzant returns and joins Oprah as they inspire viewers to stop the pain in their lives and create the loving relationships they deserve. In this special event, Iyanla creates the ultimate lesson plan for Oprah's Lifeclass: the Tour students.
