One of the main problems in my opinion, is the failure of the prescribing physician to perform due diligence. Before a new prescription is written from a new doctor or even the same doctor, there should be a blood test. This test would determine what is in a person's system already. If someone is found to have elevated levels, then additional steps should be taken. The problem is that doctors are herding their patients in and out like cattle. They are not as concerned about the total needs of the patient, just the ones that the patient is talking about. This has to stop. Their oath says to do no harm, but when they are laxed in their duties, they do lots of harm.
