LL Cool J to host Grammys

LL's name alone will boost numbers for the night. The Grammy's have become my least favorite awards shows. I hope he has some fun with it.

For the first time in seven years, CBS’s broadcast of the Grammy Awards ceremony will have an official “host” — LL Cool J.

In an incredible coincidence, singer/rapper LLCJ stars on CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles,” one of the country’s most popular TV series.

The Grammy broadcast has been hostless since 2005, when Queen Latifah did the honors and the show attracted an average audience of around 19 million viewers, one of its smaller crowds. When Jon Stewart did the job, in ’01 and ’02, he attracted more than 26 million viewers the first time but only 19 mil the next.

Because, let’s face it, more than any other major televised trophy show, this one isn’t about the host. Heck, it’s not even about the winners.

It’s about the performances.
