Al Gore on Rick Perry: 'I was happy to have his support'

I wonder how much traction is going to come out of this. I would like for the media to investigate what happened in Perry's life that he switched parties. Either way, his opponents should do what they can to expose some of his hypocrisies.

Nobody’s really sure whether Texas Gov. Rick Perry was officially Al Gore’s Texas chairman during his 1988 presidential campaign was — but Gore sure remembers Perry.

"I remember Rick Perry from that campaign. He was one of a number of Democratic legislators who endorsed my candidacy in 1988, and I was happy to have his support," Gore told USA TODAY on Friday. "I don't know what has happened to him since then."
"People are free to change their minds in politics. I'll let the voters judge and make their own interpretation of his explanation for his extreme shift in views," Gore added.
