Rick Perry Walks Back Statement That He Feels 'Called' to Run

Of course he is walking back these statements. Someone in his camp told him that being 'called' to run for President made him sound a little odd. Even for a Texan, he sounds a little strange. He has to know that with the 'day of prayer and fasting' in the backdrop, he seems more like a religious fanatic than a potential presidential candidate.  I am still baffled by the fact that someone who often talks about seceding from the United States, would want to be President of these same United States. Very interesting...

In a press conference with Texas reporters today, Gov. Rick Perry walked back comments he made to the Des Moines Register in which he said he feels “called” to run for the presidency.

“There’s a lot of different ways to be called. My mother may call me for dinner, you know, my friends may call me for something. There are people calling from all across this country, into either me directly or people that they know and saying man we wish you’d consider doing this,” Perry said as reported by the Austin American Statesman.

When asked if this meant there were no religious overtones to his “called” statement, Perry insisted he’s a man of faith who seeks signs from God in his decisions.

“I don’t ever get confused. I am a man of faith. I don’t make any apologies about my faithfulness and the fact of the matter is I think anyone who goes through life without having that foundation of faith, you know I don’t know how they do it. I couldn’t. So the idea do I look for signs and do I look for good scripture that tells me how to live my life? Absolutely, I do that.”
