Pelosi formally requests ethics investigation into Rep. David Wu

With Rep. Wu, not admitting to anything, I knew it was only a matter of time before Nancy Pelosi intervened. She did not want to be accused of moving too slowly. Some people in DC think that waiting on or checking the facts is ineffective leadership. It seems however, that this decision was a no brainer.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has formally requested an ethics investigation of Rep. David Wu (D-Ore.).

In a brief letter to the chairman and ranking member of the House Ethics Committee, Pelosi wrote that an investigation by the bipartisan panel “to determine if the Rules of the House of Representatives have been violated is warranted.”

The letter comes after Pelosi and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel (N.Y.) said Sunday night that they would seek investigations into Wu, who faces allegations by a young woman of sexual misconduct.

Wu released a statement Saturday regarding the alleged incident, calling the situation “very serious” but making no mention of his own actions.
