David Wu's job in doubt over sex reports

The good news for Mr. Wu is that the debt ceiling talks are dominating the news right now. If he plays his cards right, he could leave office without any one really knowing why. I hope he takes the high road and bow out as gracefully as he cans.

Embattled Rep. David Wu’s political career hangs in the balance as party leaders in Washington and Oregon consider ways to force the veteran Democratic lawmaker to step down.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and other top Democrats are reviewing their options on Wu, which include outright calls for him to resign or to seek an Ethics Committee investigation into allegations that he had an “unwanted sexual encounter” last Thanksgiving with the teenage daughter of a longtime friend.

Pelosi and other party leaders, including Democratic Conference Chairman John Larson of Connecticut and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel of New York, have so far held off on taking any formal action against the 56-year-old Wu. Pelosi spoke with him on Saturday, but she would not comment on the details of that conversation.
