Obama, Top Senators to Meet on Budget.

I sincerely hope this meeting is productive and more than a publicity stunt. I believe that the WH wants to solve this issue so they can move on to job creation issues. I am not sure if there will be any real movement on the Bush tax cuts. But according to the research, the American people are fed up with Congress' inability to act and they want to see the Bush tax cuts gone. They also know that something has to be done about medicare, medicaid and social security. Ok Mr. President, time to lead, negotiate, compromise for the good of the majority.

As President Barack Obama looks to keep flagging deficit reduction talks on track, the White House Friday announced that he would meet Monday with the Senate’s top leaders on the budget.

The president and Vice President Joe Biden together will meet, in separate sessions, with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R.Ky.) – two men who will be crucial to crafting and passing any budget agreement but who have not been directly part of the bipartisan group headed by Mr. Biden.

That group suspended work Thursday after its two Republican members pulled out, saying it had reached an impasse on tax policy that only higher levels of leadership could resolve. The group has been at work for seven weeks in search of a major deficit reduction initiative that both sides believe will be needed to clear the way for Congress to pass a needed increase in the $14.29 trillion debt limit.
