Kwame Kilpatrick paroled granted

All we can hope for at this time with Kwame, is that he has learned his lessons.  It amazes me how some people get several chances to do right. This is Kwame's last shot. I would hate for him to end up as another politician that could have made a difference if he had gotten out of his own way.

Kwame Kilpatrick is free.

The former Detroit mayor, who in 2008 pleaded guilty to two felony obstruction of justice charges, will be released from a Michigan prison on or after July 24, the Associated Press reported, citing a spokesman for the Michigan parole board.

Kilpatrick was sentenced to between one-and-a-half and five years in prison in May 2010 for violating the terms of his parole. He served 99 days of a four-month prison sentence in 2008.

He is scheduled to go to trial next year on federal corruption charges.

Kilpatrick’s mother, former Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-Mich.), represented Detroit for seven terms before losing a 2010 primary to Rep. Hansen Clarke.
