This apology does not go far enough in my opinion. He was way off base when he made those statements. He was completely playing to the politics of fear. How could this man of faith be led astray so easily? He failed to show the world the true tenets of Christianity.
The Rev. Franklin Graham, who appeared on Morning Joe on February 21 to discuss faith and politics, has now apologized for some of the remarks he made on the show. This is according to a report posted on the Religious News Service site.
Graham talked with Morning Joe's Willie Geist, MSNBC contributor and Morning Joe regular Mike Barnicle, New York Magazine's John Heilemann and MSNBC's Alex Wagner about the faiths of the 2012 GOP candidates as well as President Obama's faith.
When asked by Geist if he believed President Obama is a Christian, Graham remarked by saying:
Well, I think you’ll have to ask President Obama. You can ask me ‘Do I believe you’re a Christian?’ I think the best thing for a person is to ask you directly, so I think people have to ask Barack Obama. He’s come out saying that he’s a Christian, so I think the question is ‘What is a Christian?’
