Michelle Obama to attend Betty Ford funeral

First Lady Michelle Obama will honor one of the few women to have held the same position as her Tuesday as she travels to California for the funeral of Betty Ford.

The White House announced Monday that Obama will head to Palm Desert for Ford’s funeral at Saint Margaret Episcopal Church in Palm Desert.

Another former first lady, Rosalynn Carter, whose husband succeeded Gerald Ford in the White House, will deliver a eulogy at the service, as will journalist Cokie Roberts and Geoffrey Mason, a member of the board of the Betty Ford Center, the alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility that Ford founded.
