Obama: Anthony Weiner can 'bounce back'

I am not sure if Weiner wants to recover from this. The Democrats bascially threw him under the bus. For all of their ills, the Republicans know how to stick together, regardless of the person's guilt or innocence. The Democrats fell for the bone that the Repubicans threw and caved in once again. Is there any coverage of Pres. Bush telling Vitter what he would do? Did any high ranking official in the Republican party call for Vitters resignation or Ensign's or Craig's? These people actually broke the law. Rep. Weiner only sent pictures of himself. It was stupid but not criminal.

President Barack Obama didn’t get into the fray Thursday when asked about Rep. Anthony Weiner’s decision to resign his House seat after a three-week saga over racy photographs and messages.

“I wish Rep. Weiner and his lovely wife well,” Obama said in a brief clip from an interview with ABC News that aired Thursday night on “World News.”

“Obviously, it’s been a tough incident for him. But I’m confident that they’ll refocus, he’ll refocus, and and he’ll end up being able to bounce back,” Obama said.

The president’s remarks came soon after Weiner (D-N.Y.) held a press conference in Brooklyn to announce that he is stepping down after becoming engulfed in scandal.

Earlier Thursday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said he wasn’t “aware” of whether Weiner gave the president a heads up about his plans to resign, though the now ex-congressman did speak with senior House Democrats including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) while they were at the White House Wednesday night for a congressional picnic.
