I hope all of the fanfare is worth it. The GOP is searching for itself right now. I have to admit, there was a time that I had some respect for Huckabee. But he lost it with his blatant disrespect and untruths toward President Obama.
Mike Huckabee's "very important announcement" on his Fox News show Saturday night will make clear whether or not he plans on taking another shot at the White House, his executive producer said — but some top advisers are betting against a repeat campaign.
In a statement Friday provided to POLITICO through a Fox News spokeswoman, "Huckabee" executive producer Woody Fraser said, "Governor Huckabee will announce tomorrow night on his program whether or not he intends to explore a presidential bid. He has not told anyone at FOX News Channel his decision."
Huckabee is keeping the details under wraps, and some sources close to him said they had no advance notice and didn't know what he will say.
"I have no idea what he's going to say," Ed Rollins, a top Huckabee adviser, told POLITICO, adding that he got no advance warning from Huckabee about the announcement — or even that he planned to make one. But he added that the lack of any heads-up to aides suggested Huckabee is going to pull the plug on the 2012 discussion.
"My guess is he is going to say he's not announcing a campaign," Rollins said. Huckabee's family had been against a run, Rollins said, which factored heavily into his decision.
