Chicago Woman Gets Out of Jury Duty to See 'Oprah'

A Chicago woman recently asked a federal judge to excuse her from jury duty because she had plans to attend one of Oprah Winfrey's final shows. The trial isn't a run-of-the-mill case either; it involves former Illinois Gov. Rob Blagojevich.

Surprisingly, her wish was granted. Blagojevich didn't appear slighted in the least and said he was happy the woman finally gets a chance to live out a "once in a lifetime" dream. The prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Reid Schar, seemed to support the woman's excuse, telling the judge, "It's the last year [of Oprah's show], Judge." Oprah's final show will air May 25.

In all fairness, the woman will be witnessing history. As ridiculous as it sounds, we feel she was justified. Who doesn't wish they had tickets to see Oprah in her final season? However, this is definitely a Chicago thing -- we're not sure how well that excuse would play out in New York.
