After two rounds, Tiger Woods in the top 10 at Arnold Palmer Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tiger Woods birdied his final hole of the day and shot a second-round 68 on Friday to move up the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge.

Woods, 3 under through 36 holes, still trails leader Spencer Levin by five shots, but his round moved him into the top five as the afternoon wave of golfers was set to tee off.

On Thursday, Woods made two bogeys in the first nine holes of his round. An even-par back nine left him tied for 31st place when play began on Friday.

Woods started on No. 10 on Friday and birdied the 11th, 16th and 18th holes to begin his climb back into contention. He bogeyed the par-4 third hole, but rallied with birdies at No. 4 and No. 9 to close his round.

"I hit the ball probably as well as I did coming in yesterday all day today," Woods said Friday after his round. "And I left probably five putts short that were dead center. So this could have been a pretty special round."

Woods added that some of the things he is working on with new swing coach Sean Foley "are starting to become a little more fluid."

Levin, who shot an opening-round 66 Thursday, threatened to run away from the field with three birdies in his first six holes Friday. However, he slumped in the middle of his round with a pair of bogeys before rallying with a 20-foot birdie putt at No. 18 to shoot 70. He's 8 under, with half of the field still to post a second-round score.

Steve Marino made six birdies (with only one bogey) to shoot 67. He's two shots back of Levin. Charles Howell III shot 65 and is also two shots behind Levin.

Sergio Garcia matched Woods' 68 and is also in at 3 under. Garcia's round included an eagle at the par-5 16th. David Toms shot 67 and is in the group at 3 under.

Woods' day -- which included five birdies and one bogey -- was another in a long line of solid rounds at Bay Hill. He shot 67 in the final round to wrap up a victory in 2009, the previous time he played in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods' best-ever round at Bay Hill is 64 (first round in 2007 and 1998; second round in 2000).
